Yo! Diary (2003)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for ‘Yo! Diary’, a children's comedy drama on CBBC, based on the books by Jonathan Meres. The titles were used as a vehicle to feature the actors in the programme speaking their lines while displayed on the facets of a box created in 3D computer animation. This constantly changing motif was composited in a final digital edit over a 2D animated ground stretching away to the horizon, on which a layered frieze of TV sets of different sizes tumbled and rolled as outline drawings, mirroring the action of the foreground 3D image.
