Why Don't You...? (1975)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for 'Why Don't You...', a series presented by children who suggested ideas for activities and interests for other kids to do as an alternative to watching TV. Such a long title needed a ‘roller caption’ filmed on a rostrum camera in order to get it all on the screen and legible. The long-running show ran for an astonishing 42 series between 1973 and 1995, pulling in 3 million viewers at its peak.
