Tuesday Documentary: The Right to Know - closing titles (1974)

Concept and creative process

A film shown in the 'Tuesday Documentary' slot, 'The Right to Know' was an investigation into secrecy. Workers had taken jobs without being told that they could be working with a killer substance. I suggested creating something more interesting for the end credits than simply a roller or captions and this end credit sequence encapsulated in essence the programme just transmitted. The idea echoed the secrecy theme by leafing through the titles and and picking out the names with torch light. The captions were shot on 16mm film on a rostrum camera. Mute.
