Tomorrow's World (1970)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for ‘Tomorrow’s World’, a long-running series which looked at recent developments in technology as well as future trends. The titles established a new logo for the current series using the photoset alphabet which had recently been developed for commercial use, based on 'BEGHILOSZ', the limited character spelling available on a pocket calculator. The titles were photo set and the strips of paper cut and pasted by hand onto board. The artwork was photographed and turned into Kodalith negatives, high contrast large format acetates, which were filmed backlit on a rostrum camera.
