So You Think You're A Good Driver? (2001)

Concept and creative process

‘So You Think You’re A Good Driver?’ was a series presented by Nick Ross, which examined people's bad driving habits and how they could be improved. The title sequence was created in a digital edit which comprised a number of different elements, from live action motoring footage to graphic animated cars in silhouette, and was given a strong cohesion through the vignetted oval shape of the GD sticker which was overlaid throughout most of the live action scenes. The multi-layering of the material with partial superimpositions of live action whip pans and the introduction of a sudden change of perspective, with an animated car on a zig-zag course through a forest of red warning triangles, gave the sequence a rich busyness and a colourful graphic quality.
