See Hear (1986)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for a weekly magazine programme for the deaf community, with news, views and entertainment made more accessible with subtitles and sign language. Over a panning background of airbrushed clouds, a line animated on and became a triangle containing an eye-shape which opened to reveal an eye. An animated sound wave formed the word ‘See’ within the triangle and the word ‘Hear’ faded in to complete the programme logo. The sequence was filmed from cel artwork on a rostrum camera.
