Concept and creative process
A documentary series which took on the aspect of a historical detective story as Michael Wood explored Shakespeare's mysterious life and the exciting times in which he lived. The title sequence was created in 3D CGI animation and depicted different contemporary images of Shakespeare and Queen Elizabeth I on the walls of a deep labyrinthine structure. As the camera craned up and over the top, the walls of the structure moved together to form an intaglio design which in a further transition was revealed to be the wax impression of Shakespeare’s seal ring, forming the background to the series title.
