Concept and creative process
Titles for the weekend edition of the live magazine show in which beliefs, experiences, prayer and reflection are brought together in the foyer of BBC Pebble Mill, Birmingham. The titles were inspired by the mandala, symbolising the quest for unity and oneness. The artwork was created in the form of a back-lit Kodalith, filmed and animated on a rostrum camera. The colour was from cinemoids placed beneath the clear on black Kodalith. The animation was achieved by using black mattes on clear cels on top of the Kodalith revealing the colour one block at a time. Careful planning of the filming to a frame count taken from the music track ensured the accurate coordination of the different colour exposures and the camera move. The sequence was captured entirely in-camera without the need for editing.
