Concept and creative process
For the title sequence of 'Out of the Past', a dramatised historical series for schools, Sid Sutton’s idea was to use interesting and beautiful artefacts, buried in the sands of time, being revealed to spell out the title with the letter-like shapes of the objects. It was a live action all model studio shoot. The hourglass had been specially made and designed for the sand to run through in 30 seconds and the sand covering the title model was blown away in real time.
