Operation Good Guys (1999)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a comedy series about an elite undercover police unit. The main purpose of the sequence was to showcase the actors and their roles in ‘Operation Good Guys’. The designer co-ordinated these in a visually interesting way, using extreme out of focus close-ups of characters as design elements composited with the ‘clean’ shots. Similarly, animated graphic linear patterns were combined with soft vignettes of actors moving around the screen. The developing digital technology was having a big impact on the way designers were creating new visual solutions to frequently occurring production requirements for the titles.
