Ooh La La! (1968)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for a series based on short farces written by Georges Feydeau between 1881 and 1916, all of which included mistaken identities and impeccable timing. Tom Taylor took the graphic work of Toulouse-Lautrec as his role model for the titles, in particular the designs for the book cover and poster for ‘La Reine de Joie’. He created other images in the art nouveau style as part of the title sequence montage, including the author Feydeau and the actors in the cast of ‘Ooh La La’, and filmed it on a rostrum camera.
