Numbertime (1993)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a Schools series offering an introduction for 4 and 5 year-old children to early mathematical vocabulary skills. The production ran to nine series from 1993 until 2001. Animation, both cel animation, puppet and model animation, were used extensively in the series and was produced by Ealing Animation, Hedley Griffin, Peter Lang, Alan Rogers and Marcus Parker-Rhodes. The opening titles introduced the concept of numbers one to ten in an animated ‘scribble’ vignette, containing performances by some of the artistes and animated characters in the series and additional live action shots, demonstrating numbers in a 2D computer animation.
