Noticeboard (1987)

Concept and creative process

Titles for ‘Noticeboard’, a weekly series in which Rob Curling looked at what was going on in BBC Radio and TV during the week. The titles depicted a re-imagined radio receiver, inspired by the work of Ettore Sottsass and his associates in the 1980s post-modern Milanese design group Memphis. It bore some of the hallmarks of shape, pattern and a whimsical approach to the design of everyday objects that became synonymous with the Memphis group. The design and animation of the programme logo maintained the continuity of the neo-art deco styling in this stylish 3D computer-generated title solution.
