NCA Design Group Current Affairs - teaser trail (1988)

Concept and creative process

This is a compilation of the work of the team of designers working for the News and Current Affairs Department in 1988. They did an excellent job servicing the needs of the many live and recorded programmes that came out of the Department, constantly seeking surprising and inventive ways of putting even the most mundane statistics, graphs, charts etc on the screen in an entertaining and informative way. They also created the opening titles for the weekly and daily political news programmes like 'Newsnight', 'Panorama' and the 'Money Programme' and for all of the News Bulletins too. The News & Current Affairs Design Group was the first to benefit from the introduction of new technology like the Quantel Paintbox which transformed the quality, quantity and the speed of work that designers were able to handle in a news environment.
