Concept and creative process
Opening titles for a science-fiction drama series, set on a moonbase in the year 2003. Now almost 20 years after that date, the lack of any permanent moonbase, let alone five international ones on which this series was predicated, demonstrates the problems of futurology. The titles were put together using a shot of the Earth’s rise over the horizon of the moon landscape, familiar from the 1969 Apollo 8 mission. The footage of the Moonbase 3 itself was production footage shot on a model of the site, with the programme title superimposed over it.
