Concept and creative process

Opening titles for a comedy sitcom about the love-hate relationship between upper-class Audrey fforbes Hamilton and Richard DeVere, the nouveau riche businessman who buys her manor house when she can longer afford to keep it and has had to move into the Lodge at the end of the drive to the manor. The titles established in a series of specially shot stills, the manor house and the lifestyles of the two main protagonists, Audrey and Richard — Audrey’s Rolls Royce and her interest in the local hunt and Richard’s aspirations to becoming a ‘hunting, shooting and fishing’ type of country gentleman, with a taste for the finer things of life. The programme proved very popular with the viewers, achieving on occasions ratings in excess of 20 million.
