Lyn Marshall's Everyday Yoga (1983)

Concept and creative process

In a studio based series the yoga teacher explained practical yoga positions and breathing technique. In order to convey the health benefits of yoga the concept was to match the postures with countryside scenes. For example matching the arch of the body with a bridge over a stream. Film library research was done to find scenes that would match each particular yoga posture. The yoga teacher was then filmed 35mm in a studio demonstrating these movements. These scenes after editing were composited using an aerial image camera which gave complete control over each scene's size, position and opacity.
