Inside Tracks (1998)

Concept and creative process

In 1998, BBC Music Entertainment commissioned the BBC Resources broadcast design team in Manchester to produce the title sequence and programme kit of parts for the weekly music programme ‘Inside Tracks’. The programme was presented by Radio One DJ Kevin Greening and was made exclusively for BBC Choice. Each show included the latest music news, live performances from different bands, and lively debate and comments from invited studio guests. The key client at BBC Music Entertainment was executive producer Paul Smith. Designer Gregory Millar was supported by senior designer Mark Allen. The title sequence shows two 3D animated duelling sound speakers, reflecting the adversarial debating nature within the show, climaxing in their mutual destruction, followed by the reveal of the ‘Inside Tracks’ logo. The sequence was animated by Red Vision computer graphics in Manchester.
