The Frank Skinner Show (1996)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a show that was a blend of stand-up comedy, sketches and celebrity interviews, hosted by the award-winning Frank Skinner. The sequence began on a station platform with a hand-held camera moving around in an arc as the figures in the shot constantly changed. The locations and time of day changed for the different shoots, ending with a locked-off camera taking shots that were ultimately jump-cut together. The whole sequence, which began and ended with Frank Skinner, was digitally edited in a riotous montage appropriate for the notoriously unconventional chat show that was ‘The Frank Skinner Show’. That this was also the festive season edition got a nod of acknowledgement with the inclusion of the party blower and party popper which exploded over the final programme logo, graffitied with the word Christmas.
