Cracking The Code (1993)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a science series looking at the history of genetics. 4:2:2 Videographics created a purely typographic sequence for ‘Cracking the Code’. Using a panning background of repeated letters in a seemingly random fashion, as if a string of code, some order and meaning was introduced in the shape of silhouetted figures of animated human, animal and insect forms which highlighted parts of the typographic code through their movement. Created digitally with simple mattes derived from live action footage and animated in the edit.
