Opening titles for Kenneth Clark's classic 1969 series tracing the history of Western art and philosophy. For this 13-part documentary series, the titles were superimposed over live action shots which were appropriate to the location of each episode. The designer filmed top-lit and back-lit captions on a rostrum camera to make the mattes and masters for the film opticals to be created for each episode in the film laboratory.
