Concept and creative process
Opening titles for a sitcom about middle-aged delinquent Sid, and his long suffering fiancée Liz, written by Galton & Simpson. The signature headgear of the two stars was used by designer Geoffrey Martin to symbolise them before showing their portraits. All of the elements were cut out and mounted on black, and the sequence was filmed on a rostrum camera, using its panning bars to animate on the titles and to wipe on the portraits.
