Concept and creative process

Titles for the long-running hospital drama series about the staff and patients at Holby City Hospital's emergency department, charting the ups and downs in their personal and professional lives. For this series, the live action in the title sequence concentrated on the paramedics’ response to a 999 call, their attempts to stabilise the patient in the ambulance and his passage through A&E on arrival at the hospital. The ‘lightning’ effect from series one was re-used to introduce the post-produced manipulated images which condense the time and motion inside the ambulance. The sequence, as in series one, concludes with the ‘Casualty’ logo designed by Iain Greenway, maintaining the continuity of the brand.
