The Camera And The Song (1973)

Concept and creative process

The generic logo consisted of the hand-drawn artwork of the word 'The Camera' which was airbrushed with paint to give the effect of shiny 35mm film stock. The artwork of the 'The Camera’ had a clear cel overlay pegged over it. The logo was revealed by shooting it single frame in reverse. Black paint was used frame by frame to cover up the logo. As the logo was on a black background, the painting out was not visible. The words '& The Song' done in the style of a musical stave, were white on black and were double exposed onto the shot in-camera. The sequence was entirely shot on a film rostrum camera.
