The Burke Special (1973)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a series in which James Burke and his studio audience investigated what modern living can do for you - and to you. The images of James Burke and members of the audience were taken from photographs and turned into Kodalith positive and negative high contrast acetates. These were coloured with translucent gels and filmed backlit on a rostrum camera with a separate pass for each colour, using the relevant positive or negative matte to mask the previously exposed colour.
