Bitsa (1995)

Concept and creative process

An animated title sequence for ‘Bitsa’, the series in which junk was given a make-over and transformed into new items. The title sequence is a high-octane romp through a huge variety of hand animated sequences which are displayed in a higgledy-piggledy arrangement of frames or screens shot on a motion control camera rig in a studio. All of the animated screen content was from previously shot material and inserted in post-production via blue screen panels in the frames on the motion control shoot. A variety of inventive wipes (zipper, roller blind, fan) were created and the ‘shash’ on the TV set between the titles was also hand animated paper cut out zigzag shapes.
