Concept and creative process
‘Behind the Telly’ was one of a number of Idents that comprised the BBC Two Winter campaign 1997 and was closely related to ‘Dance’ and ‘Lurve’. In it a narcissistic ‘2’ kisses its own double on the television screen with help from a handy pile of videotapes. It leaps down and runs round behind the telly and back to the screen again. It jumps up to try to kiss the double once more, only to see its double disappear from the screen in mid-jump. Like the other idents in this series, the ident was entirely computer generated.
