Bargain Hunt (2002)

Concept and creative process

David Dickinson presented an antiques challenge show in which two teams were given £200 each with which to buy bargains at an antiques fair. The titles were a spoof of the then popular 'Ali G Show' titles, designed to rebrand the series for a younger, student audience. The storyboard design concept was by Neil Harris. The sequence was filmed live action in a studio shoot featuring presenter David Dickinson with his famous suits and bling against a purple backdrop to further brand the programme. Digital effects in post-production included spinning shoes and coins turning into notes with added sparkles, in a tribute to the Ali G original.
