The Barchester Chronicles (1982)

Concept and creative process

Titles for a dramatisation of Anthony Trollope's much-loved series of satirical stories of provincial life, set in the fictional town of Barchester and the surrounding county of Barsetshire. The sequence was filmed on a rostrum camera using illustrations of Peterborough Cathedral, the location for the filming of the adaptation, drawn in the style of an early eighteenth-century chromolithograph, with credits superimposed.
