Ask The Family (1999)

Concept and creative process

'Ask The Family', was a quiz show contest of speed and wits between families from all over the UK. The show enjoyed a long run and commanded a devoted following from its launch in 1967 until 1984 and was chaired throughout all of the 16 series by Robert Robinson. In 1984 it was taken off the air but after a 15 year hiatus, was revived again on UK Gold for one more competition in 1999, under the chairmanship of Alan Titchmarsh. Bob Cummins designed the titles for this show and incorporated the dual profile logo at the end of the sequence, which had been used in the very first series in 1969. This formed a link through into the studio, where it was created in neon as part of the set decoration.
