Archer's Goon (1992)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for the children's drama sci-fi series ‘Archer's Goon’ which was the winner of the BAFTA Award for Children’s Programmes in 1993. The series was based upon the fantasy novel by Diana Wynne Jones, with its complex plot of a town secretly administered by a mafia of seven wizard siblings who extract a tax from every aspect of the town’s life and commerce. Defaulters receive a visit from their rather scary Goon. The titles hint at the convoluted machinations to come with a step printed image, shot on a computer controlled rostrum camera, of a face with a beam of light emitting from its eye.
