Concept and creative process
For the title sequence of this new series the designer used the heraldic shield of the fictional Saint Angela’s Hospital and the shape that this generated as part of a multiscreen optical sequence depicting the life inside and outside of the hospital for a group of trainee nurses. The theme music was ‘Motivation’, written and performed by Alan Parker. The series ran from 1975 to 1983, soon becoming a twice weekly soap, after its popularity with audiences was quickly established.
