Aliens in the Family (1987)

Concept and creative process

Opening titles for a children's drama series about a Galgonquan alien's visit to Earth. Linda Sherwood-Page set the scene for the series by filming a sequence of pastel and pencil illustrations of close-up standing stones in a landscape at sunset. As the sun sets, the colours deepen and a stone circle is revealed which appears to radiate light. As the camera tracks into the centre of the circle, the 3D revolving logo dissolves in. Rostrum camera filming created the sequence of mixes between the illustrations which was combined in post-production with the animated logo.
