Concept and creative process
A promo trailer for the ‘5 Nations Rugby’ 2000 which had reached a critical stage with the upcoming match England v Wales. Working with Director of Photography Clive Norman, Steve Cope and Ron Scalpello filmed moody studio close-up shots in 35mm of the representatives of the nations still in contention in the competition. In post-production Steve Cope edited the shots, linking them with animated wireframe effects of a rugby ball generated on Quantel HAL, and inserted some rugby action footage to create the final sequence.
