Ravensbourne University London students collaborate with Daniel Eatock for unique Shoreditch exhibition
A new generation of graphic design talent from Ravensbourne University London joined forces with celebrated alumni Daniel Eatock to launch a collaborative exhibition in the heart of Shoreditch running from 18-25 July, marking his 50th birthday and the culmination of a unique creative collaboration.
Held at the Art Practice gallery, the Halfway to 100 brought together Ravensbourne staff, students, and leading figures from the design industry to celebrate a 'solo group show', with all concepts devised by Eatock and every artwork created by students from Ravensbourne’s BA (Hons) Graphic Design course.
Andrew quote
The project offered the Ravensbourne community a chance to share Eatock’s singular vision. Eatock was keen to point out that his own experience as a student had been transformed by a book that he had encountered in the Ravensbourne library; this project continues that tradition of transformation. Shows in central London galleries are a vital way for designers to network. Eatock’s generosity has placed Ravensbourne students at the centre of that space.”
Working from his recent book ‘I invite you to’, Eatock led a series of workshops, guiding students through 100 playful prompts designed to challenge conventional thinking and explore reductive, conceptual forms. The resulting show featured 50 diverse and thought-provoking pieces, each one a creative response shaped by personal interpretation, experimentation, and an openness to the unexpected.
The exhibition offered a space for public celebration, along with a professional platform for students to connect with practitioners across the creative industries. Attendees included Ravensbourne’s Vice Chancellor, Jon Kingsbury, who spent time engaging with students and learning more about their experience on the project.
Eatock’s relationship with Ravensbourne continues to be a source of inspiration, and Halfway to 100 reflects our ongoing commitment to giving students the opportunity to collaborate with industry professionals, equipping them with the skills and confidence to pursue their chosen careers.
