
Ross Clarke
Biography
Ross Clarke is an accomplished filmmaker and educator who has written, directed, and produced eight feature films over twenty years of international production experience.
Ross has worked with acclaimed talent including Pedro Pascal, Walton Goggins, Kate Walsh, Ron Perlman, August Diehl and Lois Smith in the US, UK, Norway and Brazil across productions ranging from $250K independent features to $5 million international co-productions including The Birdcatcher (2018) and The Uninvited (2025). His award winning short Some Place Safe (2003) with Mark Strong premiered at LFF.
As both a practicing filmmaker with credits including the Netflix-distributed documentary Skid Row (2008), Desiree (2014), In Spite of All the Danger (2010) and writer of the forthcoming Borges and Me (2026) with Oscar-nominated company Big Beach, and a experience as a Senior Lecturer at institutions including Met Film School, Westminster University, The University of Manchester and London Film School, Clarke uniquely bridges industry practice with academic excellence.
His published work American Cinema and The American Dream in the Age of Trump (Routledge, 2022 – co-authored with his father Graham Clarke) and supervision of more than 50 student productions shows his commitment to developing the next generation of filmmakers through hands-on production experience combined with rigorous theoretical foundations.
Ross's reputation for fostering strong talent relationships and expertise in international co-productions across four continents positions him as a vital force in contemporary cinema education and practice. He is currently directing a documentary feature on Paul Schrader (2026) and has started a new production company Strange Path and a film mentor scheme of the same name. His documentary on Brighton FC – Stand or Fall is due to be released in 2025 and he is currently writing the psycholgical thriller The Social Contract and Brazilian based thriller Saudade for Life and Death Films.
