Panos Raptis MSc, PGDip, PGCertEd

Biography

Panos is a filmmaker and academic working at the intersection of creativity, technology and education. His research focuses on immersive audio-visual work, extended reality storytelling, virtual production and AI-supported creative practice. 

He is interested in the challenges and potential of emerging technologies in narrative modes and creative expression, accessibility barriers for artists and content creators, training strategies for hybrid skillsets, the ethics and co-creation implications of automation-enhanced workflows.

He has a multi-discipline background spanning science, theatre, and film, with post-graduate studies in optical sciences and filmmaking and specialist training in cross-media, immersive storytelling and virtual production. He is a peer reviewer for emerging film technologies publications, specifically in the field of virtual production.

His production credits include the documentary ‘Secret Life of Materials’ a specialist factual film shot across Europe and acclaimed by multiple awards. He led the creative concept of the proposal for Stimulate, a multimodal outreach campaign promoting science innovation and sustainable development. The project secured €1.6m of funding by the European Commission and brought together a consortium of HE Institutions and industry partners across five countries. He has edited and produced content for SONY Entertainment TV, National Geographic, Premier League, Open University amongst others.

He has been active in higher education and training throughout his career – in New York, London and Prague – promoting life-long learning and accessible knowledge to inspire change. His passion and the common thread in his work is enabling the voices and stories that represent today and shape tomorrow.
