This webinar, Next Gen Careers: Collaborating for better careers guidance, is an offshoot of our recently published research report which found that there was a significant shortage of clear and useful careers information, advice and guidance (CIAG) in its traditional form.

A survey of 3,000 young people found that many were getting most of the insights into their prospective careers from informal sources, such as family and social media yet would prefer to learn about careers via work placement opportunities.

You can access all of the findings by reading the full report.

Next Gen Careers: Collaborating for better careers guidance

Date: Wednesday 24 September

Time: 3.30pm-5pm

Description: The campaign has highlighted that one of the primary barriers to young people entering their field of choice is the lack of access to sufficient careers advice, guidance and resources. The webinar will harness the insights of educators, employers and young people as we seek workable solutions which not only improve the efficacy of careers provision in the UK but also broaden access for all to high-quality employability resources.

Agenda

  • Introduction: global leaders in labour market intelligence Lightcast will highlight the industries expected to grow and the skills needs within those sectors
  • Vice Chancellor’s address: will present the key findings of the research and why this topic is so important
  • Panel discussion and Q&A: Our panel currently consists of the Deputy Director of Skills England, Nick Mawhinney, as well as a UK Head of Postproduction at Howarth, Tim Last. We will also be welcoming a Ravensbourne alumni voice for insight on their experiences of careers guidance.
