Lucinda Lambton's Alphabet of Britain - V (1993)

Concept and creative process

The titles for Lucinda Lambton's 'Alphabet of Britain' were conceived as an alphabet book which contained detailed illustrations of the different letters showing some of the quirky stories that Lucinda would uncover in her documentary series. A book binder created the book cover using traditional book binding techniques. This was filmed under the video rostrum camera at BBC TV Centre along with an eclectic selection of props. The page turn was created in camera using blue screen so that the different letters could be dropped in easily. The wipes from shot to shot were created using black ink on wet paper.

Postproduction - Pete Willis and Malcolm Dalton, BBC Video Rostrum.
