Concept and creative process
The concept for the ident was that following its 1991 rebranding, the BBC1 symbol was so new that it was still in the act of being created. The ident was created by building scale models and filming them on a motion control camera rig. There was very little post-production effects work required other than some rig removal. All of the lighting effects and the set backdrops were filmed in-camera.
