Grass Valley strengthens partnership with Ravensbourne University London to support next generation of media talent
Ravensbourne University London has strengthened its longstanding partnership with global media technology company Grass Valley to support the next generation of talent entering the rapidly evolving media production industry.
The collaboration reflects the growing convergence between broadcast and enterprise production, with universities increasingly expected to operate as real-world production environments. Through the partnership, Ravensbourne students will continue to gain hands-on experience with industry-standard workflows, production technologies and mentoring opportunities that reflect the realities of contemporary live production.
Building on an established relationship between the two organisations, the partnership expands Ravensbourne’s use of Grass Valley technologies, including the GV Orbit orchestration and monitoring platform and AMPP, Grass Valley’s software-defined media production platform. These technologies are being integrated into Ravensbourne’s production environment to help simplify work processes while exposing students to systems widely used across the media industry.

Our focus is on giving students a world-class experience that is grounded in the realities of today’s media industry. Working with Grass Valley allows us to give students access to the tools and workflows they will encounter in professional environments, while supporting the collaborative, cross-disciplinary approach that defines Ravensbourne. Partnerships like this help strengthen the connection between education and industry, reflecting our ethos that we learn with industry, industry learns with us and together we transform lives.”
Ravensbourne provides students with opportunities to work across creative, business and technology disciplines on projects designed to mirror professional production settings. The partnership further strengthens the university’s focus on industry-connected learning and professional collaboration.
The collaboration also highlights Ravensbourne’s growing role as a production ecosystem where students can develop both technical and creative skills using the same technologies adopted across industry. Several Ravensbourne graduates have gone on to build careers within Grass Valley, progressing into engineering and technical support roles.
The partnership forms part of Grass Valley’s wider global focus on education and workforce development, including initiatives such as the recently launched Future Playmakers Program, which supports emerging live production talent through scholarships, hands-on learning opportunities and access to professional-grade technologies.

It’s about helping the next generation develop the flexibility and understanding needed to succeed in modern production.”
The strengthened partnership reflects Ravensbourne’s continued commitment to learning with industry, ensuring students graduate with the experience and professional networks needed to thrive within the creative and media sectors.
