Hi there! What is your name and role at Ravensbourne?
Pooja Gautam, President of Ravensbourne University London Students’ Union.
It’s time for a coffee break! What’s your go-to drink or snack?
My go-to drink is coconut water but sometimes, when I need an energy boost I enjoy a caramel latte.
What’s the best part of your role?
The best part of my role is supporting and representing students from diverse backgrounds, celebrating multicultural events, listening to their concerns, hearing their experiences and ideas, meeting and connecting with them, creating opportunities for them and making a positive impact on their overall university experience.
What does a typical day in the office look like for you?
A typical day involves responding to lots of emails, preparing reports, planning student activities and events, meeting with students, supporting student engagement initiatives, attending meetings with university staff, and working on projects.
How do you like to unwind and de-stress?
I like to unwind by going for a walk, spending time with friends, and enjoying spicy food. A good catch-up with friends and a delicious meal are my favourite ways to relax and recharge.

What advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?
Keep learning, keep moving forward, and believe in yourself. Embrace every opportunity, trust your journey, and remember that you are not behind.
A book I recently loved is…
States of Change: Stories across Borders by David Kempster. The book examines themes such as migration, environmental change, human rights, economic transformation, and identity, showing how borders can both connect and divide communities.
The best dessert is…
Chocolate brownie.
My favourite thing to do in London is…
My favourite thing to do in London is exploring different cuisines and enjoying the beautiful night views of Central London. I love discovering new food experiences and taking in the city atmosphere after dark.

I would go to Italy. I would love to explore its rich history, beautiful places, culture, and experience authentic Italian food.
What’s your go-to comfort TV show or film?
The Pursuit of Happyness (Hollywood) and Three Idiots (Bollywood). I love them because they are inspiring and meaningful, with powerful messages about perseverance, learning, overcoming challenges, and following your dreams.
