Built for Industry: Francesca Menichetti
The latest instalment in our Built for Industry series features Ravensbourne alumna Francesca Menichetti, who graduated in 2023 with a BSc (Hons) Digital Marketing degree and has since been building her career in the media and advertising industry.
We caught up with Francesca to discuss her journey from Ravensbourne to Omnicom Media Group UK, and how her university experience helped shape her professional skills.
Francesca quote
Ravensbourne offered a collaborative environment where I had the opportunity to connect with students, tutors and staff from different backgrounds and creative disciplines.”
Can you tell us about your career journey since graduating from Ravensbourne and how your role has developed so far?
After graduating from Ravensbourne in 2023, I decided to continue my education by pursuing an MSc in Management at UCL School of Management, which I completed in 2025.
Alongside my postgraduate studies, I joined Omnicom Media Group UK in November 2024, where I’ve been building my career in the media and advertising industry. I started in New Business and Marketing, supporting business development, marketing communications and agency initiatives, and have since progressed into a more senior new business role.
My work involves collaborating with teams across the business, supporting pitches, researching market opportunities and contributing to strategic projects.
It’s been an exciting journey that has allowed me to combine my interests in marketing, creativity and business strategy.
Were there any industry projects, live briefs, placements or collaborations during your studies that helped shape your career path?
One of the things I valued most about Ravensbourne was its practical and creative approach to learning. Working on marketing projects helped me understand how to apply theory to real business challenges.
Alongside my studies, I was also a Student Representative and Student Ambassador. These roles gave me the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities, alongside developing my communication and leadership skills.
Looking back, those experiences played an important part in building the confidence and collaborative mindset I now bring to my career.
How did the connections you made at Ravensbourne with tutors, peers and industry partners influence your professional journey?
Ravensbourne offered a collaborative environment where I had the opportunity to connect with studentsand staff from different backgrounds.
Being a Student Representative and Student Ambassador allowed me to become even more involved in the university community. This gave me the confidence in communicating with diverse individuals.
Those experiences taught me the importance of listening and building strong professional relationships, all of which are essential in my current role.
What skills or experiences from your time at Ravensbourne do you use most in your current role?
Communication, creative thinking, teamwork and stakeholder management are probably the skills I use most.
Today, I utilise these skills when working with colleagues across different teams, supporting new business pitches, preparing presentations and coordinating marketing initiatives.
Your career brings together creativity, technology and business. How do these areas connect in your work at Omnicom Media Group UK?
My career brings together all three areas.
Working in a global media and advertising group means seeing how creativity and technology influence the way brands communicate and grow.
Whether I’m supporting new business pitches or contributing to marketing initiatives, I see how important it is to combine creative thinking with technology and a strong understanding of business strategy.
What advice would you give current Ravensbourne students hoping to start their careers in industry?
My biggest advice would be to take opportunities outside your comfort zone and make the most of your time at university.
Get involved in activities beyond your course, and that can be done in several ways, either through representing your fellow students or participating in different projects.
You never know which experience or connection might help shape your career.
And remember, you don’t need to have everything figured out when you graduate. Be open to learning, ask questions and don’t be afraid to try something new.
What are you most proud of in your career so far?
I’m proud of the journey I’ve built since moving to London, from completing my undergraduate degree at Ravensbourne and my master’s, to developing my career within a global media and advertising company.
I’m particularly proud of how much I’ve grown in confidence, both personally and professionally.
