Biography

Thida Hawkins is a fashion industry professional with over a decade of experience spanning luxury and commercial markets, who has built a career defined by multidisciplinary collaboration, creative rigour and a commitment to sustainable and ethical practice.

Thida's expertise is in apparel design, with a specialism in womenswear and working knowledge of childrenswear, menswear, unisex and gender-neutral categories, as well as accessories. Over the course of her career she has worked across every stage of the product lifecycle; from concept and pattern cutting through to garment construction, manufacturing and global supply chain management — collaborating with factories across the UK, Europe, Asia and beyond.

Alongside studio and production work, she has developed a strong portfolio of high-profile industry collaborations, including Celia Birtwell x Uniqlo, Eley Kishimoto x Werk Magazine (D&AD Award-Winning), Eley Kishimoto x Sophie Calle at the Venice Biennale and Whitechapel Art Gallery, and Katherine Hamnett x Selfridges. She has also contributed to projects with the Zaha Hadid Foundation, the Zandra Rhodes Foundation, Harris Tweed Hebrides and Somerset House, and has served as a guest judge at the Humen Cup International Design Awards in China.

Her academic career has taken her across the globe, with teaching and lecturing experience at institutions including Manchester Metropolitan University's Manchester Fashion Institute, UAL's London College of Fashion, RMIT in Melbourne, the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and Pearl Academy Mumbai, among others.

Thida currently holds a position as Course Leader on our BA Fashion course, where she brings industry depth and international perspective to her teaching across fashion, design and textiles.
