Lisa Opie
Biography
Lisa Opie is the Chair of the Board of Governors and was appointed in late 2025. She brings a wealth of experience across the creative and digital industries, with a career defined by building collaborative partnerships, nurturing talent and driving opportunities for diverse voices.
Lisa has held senior leadership roles in broadcast, production and games over a 25 year career. She is also Chair of ScreenSkills and Together TV, a Director of Micro:bit.org, and works as a media advisor.
Until very recently, Lisa was Managing Director of Ubisoft Reflections - one of the UK’s leading game development teams. Under her leadership, the studio was in production on a new title and contributed to the development of several major international releases. Reflections is part of Ubisoft’s network of more than 30 studios with nearly 20,000 employees. Ubisoft produces some of the sectors biggest titles from Assassin’s Creed to Far Cry and Rainbow 6 Siege.
Before joining Ubisoft, Lisa was Managing Director of Production for BBC Studios, overseeing a slate of over 1300 hours of world-renowned titles, including Top Gear, Doctor Who, Trying, Planet Earth 3 and Strictly Come Dancing to Good Omens.
Previously, as Managing Director of BBC Studios Factual, she led the division through its transition from public service into a successful commercial business, securing commissions from all major broadcasters and global platforms. She oversaw a raft of primetime content including the Emmy Award-winning Surgeon’s Cut for Netflix, Prehistoric Planet for Apple TV+, The Story of the Clash for Spotify and Green Planet for the BBC.
Lisa joined the BBC in 2013 as Controller of Business for Factual and Daytime, following senior roles across the media and digital industries. She was Managing Director of Twofour Digital, helping to build cross-platform channels and content for brands, broadcasters and businesses; Managing Director of Content at Channel 5; and Managing Director of Flextech Television, the BBC’s former partner in UKTV.
Lisa began her career in theatre, training at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Indiana University Theatre School.
