Kirtana Rajeev MA, BA
Biography
Kirtana Rajeev is a London-based South Indian fashion photographer and image-maker whose work explores identity, emotion, and representation through cinematic portraiture and light-driven storytelling.
Rooted in her lived experience and cultural background, Kirtana’s practice is dedicated to creating space for underrepresented voices - particularly people of colour, women, and queer communities to be seen with honesty, care, and presence. She uses light not only as a visual tool but as a subject in itself, crafting images that move fluidly between reality and reverie, always grounded in trust and collaboration.
Her work has appeared in publications such as Homegrown, and she has contributed across editorial, commercial, and creative direction roles in both the UK and India. A deeply multidisciplinary artist, Kirtana has assisted on photography and cinematography productions, including as Assistant Cinematographer to Santosh Sivan ASC, ISC - one of India’s most celebrated cinematographers - who was honoured at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival for his outstanding contribution to visual storytelling. This experience continues to shape the cinematic language and emotional depth of her photographic work.
Beyond the lens, Kirtana is also a DJ, exploring rhythm and mood as another form of storytelling.
She holds a Distinction in MA Fashion Photography from the University for the Creative Arts, and a First-Class BA (Hons) in Photography from Buckinghamshire New University.
