Frances Carter BA, MA, PhD, PGCE
Biography
Dr Frances Carter is an academic who has worked in a number of higher education institutions as a senior lecturer for over twenty years. She has taught fashion theory, fashion history and contextual studies to both fashion students and students from related disciplines.
She is a published academic whose research interests lie in issues around the materialism of gender and sexuality in objects and dress, as well as in feminist research methodologies.
Frances has a keen interest in and commitment to introducing students to the wider social political, historical and economic contexts from which fashion emerges as well as to the ways in which the fashion industry shapes our thinking. She is currently engaged on a historical research project which focusses on pre-war Berlin.
