Biography
Esther Perea Borobio is our Course Leader for the MSc in Engineering Management.
Her career bridges both academia and industry, bringing a unique perspective to her practice. She has over 20 years’ experience in university environments, where she has held key managerial and administrative roles, contributing significantly through committee memberships at departmental, faculty, and university levels. She has led comprehensive course and module design, curriculum reviews, and accreditation processes for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, fostering academic excellence and innovation.
As an educator, she applies student-centred methodologies to encourage students to learn by doing. Her extensive network of industrial contacts supports and informs her teaching, ensuring that she brings industry into the classroom and prepares students for their professional careers.
Complementing this academic experience, she has 10 years of industrial experience as a mechanical engineer and industrial designer, spanning diverse industries. Her expertise includes steering projects from initial concept through to high-volume manufacturing, underpinned by strong problem-solving abilities, strategic project planning, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
As a qualified Career Coach (Institute of Management Leadership), she is passionate about supporting others in their professional journeys. Her trilingual proficiency (bilingual Spanish/English, with advanced French) further supports her ability to connect and collaborate across cultural and linguistic boundaries.
