Dr Naureen Farhan BSc, MSc, PhD, AFHEA

Biography

Dr Naureen Farhan is a Course Leader in the Department of Computing and Emerging Technologies at Ravensbourne University London. With over 15 years of experience in higher education, she has established herself as an academic leader in computing, combining excellence in teaching, research, curriculum innovation, and staff development.

She holds a PhD in Computer Science and is an Associate Fellow of Advance HE (AFHEA). Before joining Ravensbourne, Dr Farhan served as Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Bahria University, Pakistan, where she taught across a broad range of computing disciplines whilst leading research, industry engagement, and student development initiatives.

At Ravensbourne, Dr Farhan leads the MSc Information Technology Management programme and has played a significant role in curriculum design, validation, and enhancement across undergraduate and postgraduate computing programmes. She has contributed to the development of courses in Information Technology Management, Cyber Security, Computer Science, and Creative Computing, ensuring that programmes remain aligned with emerging technologies, industry expectations, and future workforce needs.

Alongside her programme leadership responsibilities, Dr Farhan mentors and supports academic colleagues, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence in teaching and learning. She supervises postgraduate dissertations, develops industry partnerships, and actively contributes to the strategic growth of the Department of Computing and Emerging Technologies.

Her research interests include the Internet of Things (IoT), 5G/6G and next-generation networks, digital transformation, quantum computing, cybersecurity, and technology management. Her work has been published internationally in areas relating to network optimisation, intelligent systems, resource management, and emerging technologies.

Dr Farhan is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion in STEM. In recognition of her commitment to inspiring and supporting future generations of women in technology, she was named a STEM Role Model Award Winner, celebrating individuals who serve as outstanding role models for girls and women pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. She is also a participant in the Advance HE Aurora Women's Leadership Development Programme, a nationally recognised initiative that supports women aspiring to leadership roles in higher education.

Through her teaching, research, mentorship, and leadership, Dr Farhan is committed to empowering future technology leaders, advancing innovation, and widening participation in STEM education and careers.
