Cristina Adami BA, PGCert, MA
Biography
Cristina Adami completed a BA in Visual Communication at the prestigious Institute Superiore Industrie Artistiche (ISIA) of Urbino in 1997 followed by an MA in Design Studies at CSM in 2001 that started her career in fashion. Her fascination with fashion and technology led to work with sportswear, activewear and international fashion labels.
Brands she worked for include Firetrap, Monsoon, Jaeger, Maison Derhy, as well as designing Florence Welch's first US tour costumes and the Julian McDonald range at Debenhams. Additionally Cristina manages her own eponymous independent bridal label. Her work in sportswear encompasses lines development for Arena International, Fila, Fifa, David Lloyd, and development of technical textile for athletes, collaborating with international clubs and sponsorships such as creating specific lines for the Olympic Games and the development of speed enhancing fabric Powerskin.
As an educator Cristina supports students creativity by encouraging self-expression and team work development. Her teaching combines theoretical background with industry based workshops that link learning to real life example preparing students to industry.
Cristina's current research compares analogue and digital tools for inclusive engagement in a progressively digitalised world. She questions the importance of creative experimentation in relation to technological advancement. Divergent thinking and dialogic are central to her practice, encouraging students to explore possibilities off the beaten track to find their own authentic voices.
